Dear Students,

As you are probably aware, distance education has grown experientially over the past 10 years. As a result of this evolution, academic administrators, faculty members, state licensing regulators and accreditation organizations have become increasingly concerned about the academic integrity of online higher education and technology programs. This is especially true when it comes to course exams that are designed to measure learner outcomes. In an effort to insure the soundness of online exams, colleges and universities have turned to online proctoring of final exams.

Effective for the Fall 2013 semester, all ACAS courses for academic credit or potential academic credit will include a requirement for a proctored final exam. ACAS has hired the ProctorU company at to proctor our final exams. Students will continue to take final exams from the convenience of their home or office however, under the “watchful eye” of the ProctorU software and service team. The service utilizes your existing computer’s Web cam and audio software. Details and training about how to use this service will be announced to our college community shortly.

In order to cover the cost of this service, effective for the Fall 2013 semester, the course registration/technology fee will increase from $50 to $75. If you have any questions, you may contact me at any time at
