Dear Students,

In order to best maintain our obligation of integrity and fairness to ourselves and our community, ACAS has chosen to become a Higher Education Partner with ProctorU, a leader in the field of academic security and assessment authentication.  Beginning with the Fall 2013 semester, all online comprehensive final exams will be proctored thus allowing students to conveniently and securely complete assigned exams using almost any Web cam.

On Monday, November 4th a Proctor U presentation will be set up in the Student Support Center.  All students are required to view this presentation before registering on the Proctor U website.

As a student you will be required to register on the Proctor U website at no charge.  As part of the registration requirements you will be required to upload a photo as part of the identification process.  Once you are registered on the Proctor U site you should request that your equipment be checked to make sure everything will work correctly the day of your exam.

72 hours before taking your exam you will need to login and schedule the date and time to take your final.  You will receive a confirmation email from Proctor U with your scheduled date and time.  The email will have a link that you will click on when you are ready to take your exam.  ACAS will cover the complete Proctor U fee for the examination only if you register 72 hours in advance.  Important note:  If you do not schedule your exam at least 72 hours in advance you the student will be charged $8.75 that you will be required to pay before taking the exam.

On the day of the exam you will be required to complete the following three step process for identification.

1.     Proctor U will take a webcam photo of you.

2.     Show your photo ID to the Proctor

3.      Answer a couple questions from a public records quiz.  These questions will be pooled from a public records database.  NOTE:  This will not be available for international students so you will need two forms of photo ID license, passport, etc.

You will be required to have a mirror or reflective object (CD, Cell Phone, etc.) on hand so that you may show the proctor your screen on the day of the exam.

If you have any questions please contact me at 800-403-3347 ext. 2 or email me at pkoch@acasmail.com

Academic integrity is the backbone of higher education. Integrity begins with each of us. We are pleased to begin the next phase in our intuition’s progress and look forward to making a statement to the world that online learning at ACAS is as substantial as that which is found at any campus-based institution.

Sincerely,

Pennie Koch
